Fired Clay is a product of many years of dabbling with clay.
My name is Tina and I am based in Auckland, New Zealand. My pottery journey started by visiting a local ceramics studio and painting various plates and garden ornaments made using molds.
When the studio closed down, I bought their kiln and decided to continue from home. While this plan was good in theory, family and work took up most of my time and my kiln was only fired up a couple of times each year.
A few years ago, with a bit more time on my hands, I had a small shed ("my studio") built in my garden and started hand building pottery and I learned to use a pottery wheel. Now I have great enjoyment forming clay into fun and functional pieces for every occasion.
The best thing about handmade pottery is that each piece is unique. While some pieces may be similar, each is shaped and finished by hand which results in subtle differences in design, texture and colour.
Treating yourself, a loved one, or a friend to a handmade pottery gift, something completely one-of-a-kind, is really special and guaranteed to bring a smile every time.
"Handmade pottery is not perfect, but it is unique."
